Who we are
BJR Marketing Consultancy ("we", "us") provides marketing audit reports for local businesses. This notice explains what data we collect, why, and what rights you have.

What data we collect
- Information you give us directly, if you use our free snapshot or full report forms: your business name, postcode, email address, and (where provided) your website, Instagram handle, and Facebook page — used to find and verify your real business listing.
- Business information we find from public sources: business name, address, publicly listed phone number, publicly listed email, website URL, Google/TripAdvisor ratings and review counts, social media follower counts and public posting activity.
- Payment information, if you purchase a full report: handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store your card details directly.
- Correspondence: if you reply to an email or contact us directly, we keep that correspondence to respond to you.
Why we collect it, and our legal basis
- To provide the free marketing snapshot and paid full report you've requested or been offered — legitimate interests (for the initial outreach) and contract (once you've paid for a report).
- To process payment — contract.
- To send you the report and reasonable, relevant follow-up about it — legitimate interests, with an unsubscribe option in every email.
- Where we contact a business by email without a prior enquiry (cold outreach), we rely on legitimate interests under UK PECR rules for business-to-business marketing, we identify ourselves clearly in every message, and we provide a genuine, working opt-out in every email.
Who we share it with
We use the following third parties to run this service, each acting as a data processor on our behalf:
- Postmark — sends our emails
- Stripe — processes payments
- Airtable — stores business records
- Anthropic (Claude) — used to help draft report content from the business data we've gathered, including looking up real, publicly available information online where relevant
- Outscraper — used to look up and verify real business listing information from Google
We do not sell your data to anyone.
Some of these providers process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where this happens, we rely on the provider's own UK-approved safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) to ensure your data remains protected to a UK standard.
How long we keep it
Report hosting: 6 months from generation, renewable.
Business and contact records: kept for as long as we have an active or recent relationship with you, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you get back in touch — typically no longer than 2 years without further contact, after which we delete or anonymise your record.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your data at any time, and you can opt out of further contact using the unsubscribe link in any email, or by replying "STOP". Contact ben@bjrmarketingconsultancy.com for any request.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please contact us first — we aim to respond to any complaint within 5 working days and resolve it within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our response, you have the right to complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).
